Activity 3

 

Be sure you have studied the words in Activity 1 and Activity 2.  Once you have completed the first two activities, choose ten idioms from the idiom list below.

 


tried one’s hand

dragging one’s feet

land on one’s feet

on one’s last legs

got off on the wrong foot

knocked off one’s feet

hands down

cold feet

kick up one’s heels

get one’s feet wet

off one’s hands

arm and a leg

all thumbs

wash one’s hands of something

to sweep one off one’s feet

twist one’s arm

put one’s foot in one’s mouth

working one’s fingers to the bone

on one’s toes

put one’s foot down

step on one’s toes

pulling one’s leg


 

After you have chosen your ten idioms, use those idioms to write a response to the question below.

 

Describe a situation where you had certain expectations that were not realized.  In other words, you thought one thing was going to happen, but something completely different happened.
