HEAR THE READING

Some people think a person creates more problems for himself or herself through a bad attitude or negative thinking.  In other words, if a person believes a bad thing will happen to him or her, then it will.  For instance, if a person believes he or she will fail a test, then he or she won’t do as well on that test as he or she could have.  They might even fail.  Likewise, if a person thinks positively, then positive or good things will happen.  For instance, my father always says he visualizes the road clearing for him when has to turn left out of a parking lot onto a busy street.  Most of the time, the road does clear so he can turn without having to wait.  He attributes that to his positive thinking and to visualizing a positive outcome.

Now answer the following question:

Do you think a person can positively or negatively affect situations based on their attitude and/or thinking in a certain way?  Why?  Give an example.
