The theater’s future was threatened with the death of the mother/father team who owned it.  On its twentieth year of operation, during the fifth month of that year, one of the owners had a heart attack.  The medical expenses totaled thirty-three thousand dollars, and the owners could do nothing but close the theater.  Then, a theater-go-er who was thoroughly upset by the closure, thought about something the town could do to save the theater.  He had a fundraiser for the theater, raising thousands of dollars to save the theater and reopen it.  When asked by Channel Thirteen news why he did it, he said, “It was worth it.  The theater is one of those places in town that brings people together.”
