ESL 1021
One time, three spoiled boys asked their father for a three-story house of their own on their own private island. Their father thought for awhile, and then he agreed. The three-story house was built right away, and the three spoiled boys moved in with all their toys. After a short time, the three boys started annoying each other by shouting and fighting with one another. They were also getting thirsty and hungry without an adult to supervise them. They quickly decided to move out of their three-story house on their own private island and live their spoiled life back at home with their father and mother.

Read the dialogue below between two family members.
A: Did you leave the water running?
B: No. That’s not water. Whatever it is sounds like the beating of a drum.
A: You’re right. It sounds like when our kitty Sutter taps at the back window to go
out.
B: Yeah, but it’s not Sutter. It’s getting louder.
A: Oh, I know what it is. It’s the pitter-patter of little feet.
B: We better tell the “kiddies”* to get back to bed.
*kiddies = a slang term for children
